So, once Again 80’s Toy Review is in the process of changing. And it really should be since, you know the theme of reviewing 80’s toys has kind of been lost You will notice a new look. A little better site performance and the addition of (when it is ready) a store. Feel no obligation to buy anything. It will mostly be my own collection…
You learn a lot your first year of doing this internet stuff. And you also learn that you could probably use an extra 6 hours in each day.
Since I am basically just a one man show all tasks s are left to me. I have spent the last year dealing with a somewhat hidden retail side of this site. I’ve kept it kind of hidden and not pushy because that didn’t fit the original vision. This whole venture started out as a way for me to sell my childhood collection (or at least most of it) without getting ripped off by resellers and dealers (not hatin, just speaking truth). I wanted to compliment that effort with a blog that shows off some of the cool 80’s stuff I have saved before I sell it and then greet the inevitable sadness I’ll have later when I think about, oh you know, stuff like M.A.S.K. action figures, Stormshadow, Cobra Commander and my Star Wars figures and Nintendo Games. (I’m keeping a few, I just have too many)
In a lot of ways I became somewhat of a dealer myself. I began to do local conventions. I live in the Pittsburgh area and we seem to have lots of
pop culture events around here even (within an hour or two). Part of my thinking after I signed up, was that I needed to supplement my collection with some new products. It wasn’t my aim from the start, but became a part of it. A really big part as a matter of fact. Long story short, I’ve lost my way and I am seeking to go back to 80’s toys
Yeah, I still have a bunch of new products. I’ve stopped ordering more. You see I have a lot of old stuff, 80’s toys of course. More “time capsules” than I even realized. Which is the reason we are all here and I mean to keep it that way.
I will still carry a limited number of new items, only if they are in line with the original mission. For example I sell some tools to help you fix your retro games. They are by no means an old item. Also I will have a few new books on 80’s type topics such as video games and cartoons. But they are things that a collector of that era would like.
(I would know I bought em all myself)
So just to finish off this “quick” update I want to say thank you for dropping by. Please join my email list. I promise I won’t bug you too much. I don’t share your emails with anyone and never will. Leave a comment and share your 80’s toy memories. I want to see what cool 80’s toys you have too. Now I must get back to the business of blogging about toys.
